Production Description

Seeking staff for Stagedoor Manor's summer season. Company states: "Internationally recognized Theatre Camp, listed as 'the coolest camp for kids' by Teen People, located north of NYC seeks Counselor Specialist Staff (Stage Managers - Asst Choreographers, Makeup Artists. Videographers, Photographer, Drama Instructors, Lifeguards, and General Counselors) staff for our 2023 summer season. Stagedoor is home to approximately 300 campers (ages 10 to 18) and 170 staff, recruited from all over the world. We are a coed camp divided into three 3-week sessions and we produce 42 full scale shows, in our 8 onsite theaters (Black Box to Proscenium to In The Round), over our 9-week summer season. We seek to employ energetic, youth oriented, hardworking & fun-loving individuals age 21 & older to join us for our 9-week season to help us achieve our mission statement of 'A positive experience for every camper'." Pay STARTS @ $2500+ BENEFITS.


Stage Manager/Camp Counselor:
will work on one show each session. You will be responsible for creating a prompt book from which you will call the show on performance weekend, the overall organization of the production elements of the show, communication between departments as well as teaming up with the director to keep the rehearsals on track. Every Director is different…some will want you to focus more on maintain control of the campers in rehearsal and some will want to do more of that themselves. Over the summer you’ll work on 3 shows with 3 different shows so hopefully will get a varied experience. There is no guarantee as to musical or non-musical assignments and we view all shows & spaces as if they are the only one we are doing.
Asst. Choreographer/Camp Counselor:
will teach dance classes in one or more dance styles (depending on skills & desire) 3 days a week, as well as assist a Director / Choreographer on a show. Every Director/Choreographer is different, and some will want you to clean & polish their choreography, some will want you to teach it for them and some will want your input into the overall choreography through collaboration and/or even choreographing a number. Over the summer you’ll work on 3 shows with 3 different choreographers so hopefully will get a varied experience.
MakeUp Artists: 18+
will teach make-up classes in one or more styles (depending on skills & desire) 3 days a week, as well as work as part of a team of 4 makeUp artist to coordinate & implement the makeup for all shows each session.

Drama Instructors:
During the first 2 weeks of each session, drama teachers will teach a variety (depending on your skills & desires) of classes each afternoon...3 1-hour classes each day. During the 3rd week of each session there aren’t classes as it is production week and we are gearing up for performances and Teacher Counselors find themselves doing a bit more counselor duties, described above, as the theatre-oriented counselors pick up more rehearsal time and work prepping the shows.
 
Videographers: During the first two weeks of each session, videographers will teach (or assist by running camera depending on skills & desire) classes involving camera usage (On Camera Acting, Film Production, Film Appreciation, Movie Making) and then the 3rd week (production week) you will record, as part of a two camera team, the shows (as well as any special events throughout the session)…you also tend to be the go to people whenever an event or evening rec activity needs AV equipment set-up. 
 
Photographer: Outside of duties as a Camp Counselor the camp photographer will take production photos of all shows, special events, casts as well as candid shots for our Social Media feeds.
 
Lifeguard: will work supervising the pool whenever it is open…which is generally every afternoon. When not at thee pool you will be doing the general counselor duties as describe above. During the 3rd week of each session the pool hours are more limited as it is production week and we are gearing up for performances and Lifeguards find themselves doing a bit more counselor duties as the theatre-oriented counselors pick up more rehearsal time and work prepping the shows. 
 
Theatre Camp Counselor: take on a wide variety of tasks but specifically help out in our Health Center (no medical training or experience necessary), Merchandise (our camp store) or Scheduling (organize & develop all the counselor daily & weekly schedules), as well as driving the camp van running errands and/or driving campers when needed. During the 3rd week of each session, as it is production week and we are gearing up for performances, General Counselors find themselves doing a bit more counselor duties as the theatre-oriented counselors pick up more rehearsal time and work prepping the shows.
 
 
 
 
 
Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations 
Season runs June 3-AugUST 14, 2023 in Loch Sheldrake, NY.

 

*Optional precamp begins May 27, 2023 for extra $$$. 

Total: $2,500.00 in Annual Salary 

Additional: Pay for these positions STARTS at $2500, plus FREE housing & meals, transport from NYC and travel stipend.
