Sesame Workshop is looking for highly talented puppeteers and performers who are Native American and are looking to develop and hone their on-camera puppeteer skills. As a company that advocates for diversity, we recognize the importance of representation both on and off-screen so that children of all backgrounds can see themselves in the content they consume.

Make a short video (1-2 minutes MAX) showcasing your talents following these guidelines:
Introduce the video as yourself
Enter and exit frame with a puppet (If you don't have a puppet, feel free to use your hand or your hand in a sock, etc.) showing a variety of character voices. Please note: we want to see your original character voices, not existing Sesame Street character voices.
Finish your video with a short song (singing or lip sync)
Upload your video to YouTube (unlisted setting) and send that YouTube link along with your bio and a signed copy of the attached release to: puppetworkshops@sesame.org

It should catalyze rich discussion on the constellation of issues around guns, gun safety, gun policy, and gun violence that has gripped and paralyzed our nation.

Theatre Now New York is seeking non-Equity performers for a staged reading of a new musical adaptation of George Orwell's "Animal Farm". This will be a socially distanced, livestreamed event. Some rehearsals may occur online, but the performance will be filmed in person at a venue in NYC TBD without an audience. Strict safety and health measures will be in place. All performers will need to be fully vaccinated. $100 stipend.
Animal Farm is a musical adaptation of the George Orwell novella, an allegory of the 1917 Russian Revolution. It follows the story of a farm in England where the animals seize control from their owner and the subsequent struggle within their ranks for leadership and control. A workshop was presented in Spring of 2020 at the BMI Lehman Engel Workshop. The show is largely sung through with a score verging on operatic. Seeking mostly legit singers with strong sight reading skills or the ability to learn material quickly. Ability to do a British accent a plus.
Theatre Now is a non-profit company dedicated to the development and production of new musicals with a history of developmental works moving on to regional and commercial productions.
Rehearsals begin June 7th with a performance on June 20th at a venue in NYC TBD.

Producer's Guild Takes Action on Scott Rudin. Where is the Broadway League?
New York— Actors’ Equity Association, the national labor union representing more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers in live theatre, has released a statement from Executive Director Mary McColl in response to the announcement that in the midst of the Scott Rudin controversy, the Producers Guild of America has created a new task force dedicated to combating workplace harassment.
“Now that the Producers Guild of America has made a statement our members are wondering why the Broadway League has gone more than two weeks without taking action or making a statement after one of their members has been credibly accused of bullying and harassment.
“Unless or until Scott Rudin’s status as a Broadway League producer changes, our path is to make sure his productions follow the language in our collective bargaining agreements – which require a safe workplace and prohibit bullying and discrimination. We can and will take action if you call and report bullying, discrimination or safety issues with any workplace. You can use our anonymous hotline.
“We believe that everyone deserves a safe workplace, whether they are union members or not. That is why when the article first ran, we immediately reached out to our sibling unions about making a joint statement, and to the Broadway League itself, to ask whether the Broadway League planned to take action. We also reviewed the article and our own records none of the people referenced in the piece were Equity members on Equity contracts. That doesn’t make it right. Far from it. Everyone deserves a safe workplace.”
Background: The Hollywood Reporter ran a news story alleging Scott Rudin’s workplace abuse on April 7. On April 12, Equity, IATSE and SAG-AFTRA released a joint statement condemning harassment and bullying. After continuing to talk privately with other unions and the Broadway League, on April 17, Equity publicly asked that Rudin release his staff from any NDAs they may have signed.

1960s Coney Island Goers (Background / Extra): All Genders, 18+
Must be okay working around atmospheric smoke. No wool allergies. EXTERIOR WORK! Summer season wardrobe! Men must be okay getting a 1960s haircut if needed and being clean shaven on the shoot date. Women's hair requirements are as follows: No fashion colors. No wigs. No weaves. No braids. No undercuts. No ombré or unnatural looking highlights. No roots if hair is colored. Hair must be above the shoulders, it cannot touch the shoulders. If hair touches shoulders, it will need to be cut by our hair dept. Short hair is ok. Any texture is ok. Gray hair on more mature women is great. NO TATTOOS FOR WOMEN! Men cannot have any visible tattoos that won''t be covered in a suit.

The series will be filming in NYC. Will be asked to attend a wardrobe fitting in Brooklyn before work date. There will be mandatory covid tests prior to fitting and work date(s). Covid tests are provided by production and are paid. PPE must be worn at all times at fitting and on set when not on camera.
Tentative shoot dates are 5/5 & 5/6 with a covid test on 5/3 & 5/4
