Background / extra roles are open to non-actors

    Casting Director: Katya Chernetsova

    Dates:
Rehearsals: March 7-8 (both days, only for Katie and Kimball)
Shooting:  March 14-15 (Kimball both days. Other roles - 1 day)

    Synopsis:
Set in New York City, the film follows Kimball, a man in his 30s navigating the emotional aftermath of a separation while maintaining the appearance of normalcy in his daily life. As he moves through conversations with his mother, an HR intervention at work over the tone of his emails, and a brief, emotionally charged reunion with his ex-partner Katie, Kimball struggles to balance honesty with social expectations.

    ROLES:

Kimball - Lead Male, Age: 28-35

A bummed out corporate 30 something new yorker going through a separation. Emotionally a bit of a mess but trying to hold it together with meditation apps, at home workouts, and swallowing his feelings. Still completely in love with his ex-wife even though he knows he shouldn't be. Must handle both the absurd (navigating corporate hell) and the heartbreaking (intimate scenes with Katie) without losing a comedic tone. Needs to make you laugh at his misery while also making you root for him. Should feel like a real person drowning in modern life, not a caricature

Special note: Character has no eyes via SFX makeup throughout most of the film.

    Katie- Lead, Female, Age: 28-35

Kimball's ex-wife who shows up at his apartment to return a sweater and complicates both their lives in the process. She still loves him but knows they can't be together (He wants kids, she doesn't). The person who has to be the adult in the room. Tries to maintain boundaries but keeps getting pulled back in. (Intimate scene with Kimball)

Special note: Character has no eyes via SFX makeup throughout most of the film.

Mother - Supporting, Female, Late 50s-60s (Voice Only)

Kimball's mother, heard only through phone conversations. Well-meaning but dismissive of Kimball's struggles. Represents generational attitudes about mental health: just ignore negative thoughts vs confront them. Needs to balance concern with somewhat toxic positivity. Voice should feel authentic and maternal but slightly exasperated. Two phone scenes.

Special note: Could be a neurotic jewish mother type. Looking for a voice with some real character

    HR Lady- Supporting, Female, 30s-40s

Corporate HR professional who calls Kimball in for a meeting about his "hostile" email punctuation. Must play two distinct modes: the official, cheerful HR persona (with everything being recorded) and a more candid version when speaking off the record. The character understands the absurdity of corporate culture but enforces it anyway. Needs comedic timing. Can go a lot of different directions for this character —  outside of the box ideas encouraged.

    Noah - Featured, Male, 30s

Popular, charismatic office worker.  Effortlessly likable, always surrounded by laughing coworkers. Ring-leader type. No scripted dialogue but, looking for actor who can improv and experiment on camera. He is a prominent presence in office scenes and want someone with BIG personality.

Special note: Must have natural charisma and be comfortable with improvised group interactions that read as genuine office camaraderie. Was written with an Italian comedian in mind, but can go many different directions.

    Shelly/Assistant  - Featured, Female, 20s-30s

Silent presence in HR meeting, types everything on laptop like a courtroom stenographer. Gets sent to fetch coffee. Minimal interaction / dialogue but will add something visually to the uncomfortable atmosphere of the HR meeting.

    Paul

    Lead. Male. 12+

Male, 14 years old. Confident, athletic, and kind with a simmering curiosity that could burst him open. He is a favorite student amongst his teachers, not because of his intelligence but his personality and ease. He has social skills that make him seem older, and has a softness that leads to vulnerability. Complete opposite of Michael. He would be in the popular social circles at school if he weren’t best friends with Michael.
Rate: $1,229 / week (no duration provided)
    Michael

    Lead. Male. 12+

Male, 13 years old. Steadfast devotion to God and to Paul. More insecure every day, which results in a slightly anxious mindset. The kind of kid that adults appreciate more than his peers. He has an earnestness and honesty that is almost naive. His anxiety about losing Paul creates an intensity in their friendship.

    Julian

    Lead. Male. 18+
