French speaking contingent casting international eco-activist Rock Opera web series, Earth Manifesto

Joshua Horwitz to Carlo Fiorletta - 1:57 PM 5/27/2021

Cellcinema is shooting the pilot for its NYC based international eco-activist Rock Opera web series, Earth Manifesto. The French speaking contingent would include both diplomatic and secret service people protecting and working with the lead eco-activist. We want this element of the series to exist within the pilot which is shooting soon. Must be comfortable speaking conversational french. It is both fun and serious role. This role will have the secret service agents taking turns staying in the Eco activists home, creating a lot of fun turbulence for both of them in such a small place.
Payment
We have a shoestring budget for our Eco-Web series, allowing for a combination of per diem pay/deferred pay for in person NYC actors in lead roles and deferred pay for supporting and remote actors. If a recurring lead role develops for one or more agents or members of the diplomatic corp, the payment rates will be negotiated. My email is
Talent@cellcinema.org. please put in ALL CAPS, TALENT FOR FRENCH AGENT/DIPLOMATIC CORP

Actors’ Equity Association Urges All States to Continue Federal Pandemic Unemployment Insurance

New York— Actors’ Equity Association, the national labor union representing more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers in live theatre, has released a statement in response to reports that at least 23 states are choosing to terminate their federal pandemic unemployment insurance programs far before their current scheduled expiration of September 6, 2021, potentially affecting nearly 2 million Americans, disproportionately workers of color

“The performance community is still experiencing mass unemployment due to no fault of our own," said Kate Shindle, president of Actors' Equity Association. "The federal unemployment supplement is not discouraging these Americans from going back to work. For politicians to push this false narrative is offensive. Live event workers, including our members, have overwhelmingly not been called back to work and will not resume full employment for at least several months. This pandemic is not over, the public’s willingness to attend live events and the future of international tourism is uncertain, and we need our governments to recognize this reality as this industry works to rebuild and restore jobs.”

Background: Equity is currently urging an extension of federal pandemic unemployment insurance past its proposed September expiration date. Equity has been advocating for expanded unemployment benefits since the beginning of the pandemic, when it successfully fought for the CARES Act PUI to include future lost work and then for mixed-income PUI in the HEROES Act. Most recently, the union also pushed for the extension of pandemic unemployment benefits in the American Rescue Plan Act

ACTORS' EQUITY ASSOCIATION, founded in 1913, is the U.S. labor union that represents more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers. Equity endeavors to advance the careers of its members by negotiating wages, improving working conditions and providing a wide range of benefits (health and pension included). Anthony the point person, email giordanoanthony@hotmail.com

Hi Carlo,

I am a member of GIAA. I also do some volunteer work with my church. We are an Italian parish in NJ (Roselle Park). Each year we have a Feast of St. Anthony in June where we have entertainment, food, rides, etc.

This year, due to Covid, we can not have an in-person feast. So we are just doing a YouTube channel were we will post videos of some entertainment that we have had in the past. Mostly we have local dance schools, singers, etc.

There is no pay for this but I was wondering if any members might have a video of themselves singing Italian/Italian-American songs that they might want us to showcase.

I am just working out the technical stuff (I’m not good with technical stuff).

I don’t know if this is something GIAA does as I am new but I thought I would offer it just in case.

I can be reached at giordanoanthony@hotmail.com

Thanks!

Anthony Giordano

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: AFL-CIO Office of the President
Date: Fri, Apr 30, 2021 at 2:45 PM
Subject: White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment
To: AFL-CIO Office of the President

MEMORANDUM

TO:                  All National and International Union Presidents

FROM:            Richard L. Trumka

On April 26, 2021, President Biden issued an executive order to create the Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment, which includes more than 20 cabinet members and the heads of other relevant federal agencies. Vice President Harris will chair the Task Force and Labor Secretary Walsh will be vice-chair.

The AFL-CIO is initiating a process to provide information to, and engage with, the Task Force. Our process will be modeled after the process we initiated in July 2020, to provide transition recommendations to the new administration. Our aim is to make the Task Force as successful as possible in growing the labor movement and building worker power, while at the same time we pull out all the stops to enact the PRO Act and public sector bargaining legislation.

Accordingly, I am asking every affiliate to name a senior staff member to the AFL-CIO Worker Organizing and Empowerment Task Force Working Group. Please complete this form by May 7, 2021. The Task Force Working Group will hold its first meeting during the week of May 10. Please reach out to Policy Director Kelly Ross with any questions at kross@aflcio.org or (202) 431-3748.

The purpose of the Task Force Working Group will be to provide information to the Task Force to help it fulfill its mandate, which is as follows:

●     To identify executive branch policies, practices, and programs that could be used to promote the administration’s policy of support for worker power, worker organizing, and collective bargaining. This identification shall include policies, practices, and programs that could be used to promote worker power in areas of the country with hostile labor laws, for marginalized workers (including women and persons of color) and hard-to-organize industries, and in changing industries.

●     To identify statutory, regulatory, or other changes that may be necessary to make policies, practices, and programs more effective means of supporting worker organizing and collective bargaining.

●     To submit to the President within 180 days recommendations for actions to promote worker organizing and collective bargaining in the public and private sectors, and to increase union density. The Task Force may recommend appropriate or time-sensitive individual actions to promote worker organizing and collective bargaining before the 180 day deadline.

●     To implement all recommendations that the President may approve and to report their progress.

A White House Fact Sheet on the Task Force further explains that the Task Force will have four goals:

●     To lead by example by ensuring that the federal government is a model employer with respect to encouraging worker organizing and collective bargaining among its workforce.

●     To facilitate worker organizing across the country by taking an all-of-government approach to mobilize the federal government’s policies, programs, and practices to provide workers the opportunity to organize and bargain collectively.

●     To increase worker power in underserved communities by examining and seeking to address the particular challenges to worker organizing in jurisdictions with restrictive labor laws; the added challenges that marginalized workers in many communities encounter, including women and people of color; and the heightened barriers to organizing workers in certain industries.

●     To increase union membership across the United States to grow a more inclusive middle class and provide workers the opportunity to come together for the purpose of mutual advancement, the dignity of workers, respect, and the fair compensation they deserve.
