English Learning App Conversation-Simulation Videos
Chad Casarotto, Casting-Production
Casting English learning app conversation-simulation videos.
Production
states: "We're developing a sophisticated English-as-a-second-language
learning app for kids, already with over 1 million users. The app is
also a finalist of the British Council Award for Digital Innovation in
English Language Training.
One of the upcoming components is an
AI-powered conversation simulator. These conversations will consist of
interactive video, each featuring two actors conversing with one another
as well as breaking the 4th wall and conversing with the player/child.
There will be approximately 2,000 conversations produced, across a small
number of actors. The production of each conversation consists of
recording approximately 25 short (10 seconds each) video clips, covering
all the different ways in which the conversation may unfold. Note that
the player input is handled using AI with speech recognition, matching
each input to one of the pre-scripted options and falling back to some
generic video response when failing to understand the user (e.g. the
actor saying something like 'Oops, not sure I understood what you just
said, can you repeat that?')
You will record yourself (and, in
some cases, a co-actor) using any reasonable smartphone camera, with a
tripod. We may ship you high end wireless microphones if the built-in
audio quality will be subpar. Many of the videos can be shot inside any
typical home, although some of them may require shooting outside, e.g.
when sitting in a restaurant.
The role may optionally involve
some improv, e.g. some small talk with your co-actor at the beginning
and/or end of the scripted conversation, and the way in which you
respond to various weird/funny inputs by the user.
We're looking
to hire approximately five to ten actors, and we will give preference to
hiring pairs who have submitted their audition together i.e. are able
to meet in-person to record 100+ such conversations as part of the
project."
Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations
