Production Description
Casting
children and adults for the non-AEA national tour of 'The Grinch'. The
Grinch discovers there’s more to Christmas than he bargained for in this
heart-warming
holiday classic. Max the Dog narrates as the sour and
scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small”, decides to steal
Christmas away from the holiday loving Whos.
DIRECTOR’S NOTE ON
CASTING: Whoville is made up of individuals that are all different from
one another and get much joy in celebrating the holiday, the community,
and their differences. We are actively assembling a cast that represents
different ethnicities, races, gender identities, religions, levels of
ableness, sexualities, and political parties. It is meant to be a
metaphor for the rich and diverse cultural tapestry that makes up our
melting-pot nation.

Additional Instructions:
What to Prepare:
-For consideration, prepare all materials in the packet for your desired role.
*If
there is a dance combo included, please tape this too, in sneakers.
Please note, we are looking more for character/personality and
storytelling with the dance combos, than technique. Have SO MUCH fun
with it! It should be joyful!
Audition materials can be accessed here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t9gpkvzb8cecd3x/AAAAruoqcDst5WIeVSe3XIzwa?dl=0
*If a song is provided in multiple keys, pick the one that best suits your voice.
-In
addition to the audition packet, sing a brief cut of a song that you
love to sing. Please use an accompaniment track, no a capella singing.
*If possible, accompaniment tracks should be played on a separate device than the one being used for recording.
-Also,
if you have any special skills in dance (jumps, leaps, turns), cirque
(juggling), or any kind of tumbling/acrobatics, we would love to see
that, too! Please include a separate short video showing us your best
and most impressive tricks.
Self-taping Specifics:
-Video Framing:
Sides and songs – please be sure the video is framed so that we see the top of your head to your waist.
Video should be filmed horizontally, yes- the slate too, and make sure you are well lit.
Dance combo – Please frame the video so that we can see your full body for the entire combo.
Submit here: https://airtable.com/shrQqdg3hnpDJOPpy
You
must include a ‘slate’ video with your name, pronouns, height, current
location, Covid-19 vaccination status, and a full body pan or zoom. If
you are under the age of 18, please also include your age.
All videos should be uploaded as separate clips, not as one continuous video.
We would like the videos to be labeled in this exact way and order (if applicable): Slate, Side #1, Side #2,
Song #1 (Welcome Christmas), Song #2 (Title of your song), Dance Combo, etc.
*Do not add your name, show title, or character to the file names. Just label them simply as stated above.
And do not put anything in all caps- only Title Case.
Videos
should be uploaded as separate files via a single link to a Dropbox,
Google Drive, or Vimeo folder. Make sure all permissions are removed
(Google Drive) and the download feature is enabled (Vimeo). NoYouTube
videos will be accepted.
