Parking in the garage next to the theatre. Bring a parking ticket in for free validation.
Audition
appointment slots are 1st come, 1st served on the day of the audition.
The theatre lobby will be open 30 minutes prior to audition start time
for signups. If unable to attend these in-person auditions, Equity
actors may submit a video audition.
Audition preparation
instructions: Prepare a short cut of a song, in the style of the show,
and sides will be distributed on the morning of the audition. Bring
sheet music in the appropriate key. There will be an accompanist on
site. Also, bring a headshot and resume stapled together.
Video
preparation instructions: Record a short cut of a song in the style of
the show. Submit a headshot, resume, and a link to the audition video to
casting@queensburytheatre.org. In the email, include Equity status. Video submission deadline is Jan. 28 (11:59 p.m.)
Dance callbacks will be held on Jan. 27 (4:30-5:30 p.m.)

Character Breakdown
Synopsis:
A reimagined production of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the
iconic musical score from the MGM film. The timeless tale, in which
young Dorothy Gale travels from Kansas over the rainbow to the magical
Land of Oz.
Seeking:
- Dorothy Gale: Female-identifying.
(Mezzo/Mix) Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed,
in search of something more. Very strong singer who moves well.

Hunk / Scarecrow: Any Gender. (Baritone) Plucky and clever in a pinch,
even while lacking a brain. Has an honest quality. Singing and dance
required, acrobatic skills a bonus. Strong baritone to F.
- Hickory /
Tin Man: Male Identifying. (Baritone/Tenor) Desperate for a heart. A
kind-hearted romantic. Singing and dance required. Strong baritone /
tenor to G.
- Zeke / Cowardly Lion: Any Gender. (Baritone) A mix of
bravado and cowardice. Should move well. Cuddly with excellent comic
timing. Vocal range: Strong baritone to F.
- Almira Gultch / Wicked
Witch Of The West: Any Gender. Character villain with an over-the- top
stage presence. Comedic, has a killer cackle.
- Professor Marvel /
The Wizard Of Oz: Any Gender. Older authoritative figure with an
eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus.
Non-Singing.
- Glinda / Aunt Em: Female Identifying, (Soprano) Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved. Strong singer.
- Uncle Henry / Emerald City Guard: Male Identifying. Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Guard - (Baritone) Comedic, big presence.

Ensemble: Flying Monkeys / Winkies / Ozians / Jitterbugs / Crows /
Trees: Any Gender. 18+. The chorus of the show, with featured
speaking/vocal/dancing roles available.
