Production Description

Seeking submissions from equity actors for roles in "The Ants," a play. No roles will be understudied. Storyline: A breathtaking house on a hill—complete with the most state-of-the-art security that excessive wealth can buy—should feel like a refuge for Nami, whose recent firing and eviction have forced him to crash at his brother and sister-in-law’s luxury home. But on this dark and fateful night, a violent uprising outside leaves the three trapped in what they think is an impenetrable fortress. A horror play infused with darkly humorous social commentary, The Ants asks why we spend so much money protecting ourselves instead of investing in our shared humanity

Actors & Performers

Nami: Male, 23-33
Iranian American. On the smaller side. Scrappy. Has had to learn to survive with very little. Has gotten by with street smarts and wit. Listens to hip-hop. Empathetic and curious. Is an underdog, and looks out for others who are the same. Doesn’t wear expensive clothes because he can’t afford them.

To apply, see the "Key Details" section below

Shahid: Male, 40-45
Iranian American. Nami’s older brother. Buttoned up. Repressed. Book smart. Well dressed. New money. Spends a considerable amount of time on his appearance and appearances in general. Thinks others could have what he has if they just worked hard enough.

To apply, see the "Key Details" section below

Meredith/The Shape: 30-45
a highly successful, self-made CEO. The real deal. Highly intelligent, driven, and motivated to succeed. A shark. Success matters to her more than anything. Put together. Eats a lot of kale. Cold as ice if you cross her, and never lets go of a grudge. She is much more grounded in reality than The Shape, until she isn’t. The Shape has a deftness for high language and navigating multiple theatrical sensibilities.
Ethnicity: White / European Descent
