The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey:
Track
1 (age 30-60) Any race/ethnicity/gender identity. portrays multiple
roles. Vivid, believable, chameleon like for the following characters
in this solo (multiple character play): Chuck Desantis (40s),
middle-aged, a bit worn, with a strong Jersey accent, he could be part
of a mob, but he’s one of the good guys; Marty Branahan (50s), close to
retirement age, big and brash, street-smart but that’s about all; Ellen
Hertle (40)--as the owner of the local Beauty Salon, she’s learned how
to use her personal beauty to advantage, tough talker, heart of gold;
Phoebe Hertle (16), awkward, shy, but with a sly and knowing sense of
humor, been around the block, but not all the way; Buddy Howard (50s),
middleaged, a bit fey, and totally British, speaks with a bit of a lisp,
teaches drama, and knows all about it from personal experience; Gloria
Salzano (60s), a diminutive woman with eyeglasses and a strong Jersey
accent; Marion Tochterman (60s), a customer of Hair Today Salon, a
lifelong smoker, and she sounds it; Otto Beckerman (70s), the go-to guy
if you have a broken cuckoo clock or an antique pocket watch, German;
and Travis Lembeck (18), the kind of kid with too much past and not
enough future, trouble, but with charm for days.
Clue:
WADSWORTH
(male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) a traditional British butler
in every sense: uptight, formal and “by the book.” He is the driving
force in the play.
MISS SCARLET (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) a dry, sardonic D.C. madam, more interested in secrets than sex.
MRS. PEACOCK (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) the wealthy wife of a senator. A bit batty,
neurotic, and quick to hysteria.
COLONEL MUSTARD (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity), a puffy, pompous, dense, blowhard of a military man.
YVETTE (female presenting, 20-30, any race/ethnicity) a loyal and alluring French maid with a French accent.
MRS.
WHITE (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) a pale, morbid, and
tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five
ex-husbands.
PROFESSOR PLUM (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) an arrogant academic, easily impressed by himself.
MR. GREEN (male presenting, 20+, any race/ethnicity) a timid yet officious rule follower. He’s awfully anxious.

Spamalot:
KING ARTHUR (male presenting,
30+ any race/ethnicity.) The King of England who sets out on a quest to
form the Knights of the Roundtable and find the Holy Grail. Great
Humor. Good singer.
SIR LANCELOT d/b/a LANCE (male presenting,
30s-40, any race/ethnicity) A Knight of the Roundtable. He is fearless
to a bloody fault, but through a twist of fate, does discover his
'softer side.' Excellent with character voices and accents. Doubles as
THE FRENCH TAUNTER, an arrogant, condescending, over-the-top Frenchman,
the KNIGHT OF NI, an absurd, cartoonish leader of a peculiar group of
Knights, and TIM THE ENCHANTER, a ghostly being with a Scottish accent.
SIR
GALAHAD (male presenting, 30s, any race/ethnicity) A Knight of the
Roundtable. Begins as Dennis, a lower class 'mud gatherer' who becomes
knighted and transforms into the dashing Sir Galahad. Doubles as PRINCE
HERBERT'S FATHER, a wealthy, brutish Yorkshireman at odds with his
sensitive son, THE BLACK KNIGHT who is always ready to duel despite
multiple injuries. Strong baritenor singing required.
THE LADY OF
THE LAKE (female presenting, 20s-30s, any race/ethnicity) A Diva.
Strong, beautiful, possesses mystical powers. The leading lady of the
show. Great singing voice is essential, as she sings effortlessly in
many styles and vocal registers.
SIR ROBIN (male presenting,
30s-40s, any race/ethnicity): A Knight of the Roundtable. Ironically
called 'Sir Robin the Brave,' though he couldn't be more cowardly. Joins
the Knights for the singing and dancing. Doubles as GUARD 1 and BROTHER
MAYNARD, a long-winded monk.
PATSY (male presenting, 20+, any
race/ethnicity:) King Arthur's horse and servant. Underappreciated but
always longing for King Arthur's approval. Good, funny, physical mover
with some tap dancing. Doubles as MAYOR, a jolly red-faced man who
advertises the merits of his hometown, and the drunken, useless GUARD 2.
SIR
BEDEVERE (male presenting, 20s, any race/ethnicity): A Knight of the
Roundtable. An inept scholar. Doubles as DENNIS GALAHAD'S MOTHER, a
shrill peasant woman, and CONCORDE, Sir Lancelot's horse. No solo
singing.
THE FOLLOWING ROLES ARE PLAYED BY THE SAME ACTOR (male
presenting, 20s-30s, any race/ethnicity): Tenor singing required. Very
good mover. HISTORIAN: A tweedy academic. NOT DEAD FRED: A sickly little
fellow who, despite others' beliefs, claims he is "not yet dead."
FRENCH GUARD: The condemnatory French sidekick to the French Taunter.
MINSTREL: In Sir Robin's band. PRINCE HERBERT: The hopeful and frilly
prince who loves to sing, and pines for his love atop a tower.
MATILDA THE MUSICAL:
MISS
AGATHA TRUNCHBULL (30+, any race/ethnicity, male or female presenting)
The tyrannical headmistress at Matilda's school who despises children.
Once a famous athlete, she is described as a "gigantic Holy terror", a
"fierce tyrannical monster" who "marches like a storm trooper with long
arms swinging" with an "aura of menace". An imposing presence. Vocal
range: A2 - G4
MR WORMWOOD (male presenting, 30+, any
race/ethnicity). Matilda's uncaring father. A slimy, greedy used-car
salesman. "A mean crooked crook." Comedic. Vocal range: D3 - A4
MRS
WORMWOOD (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) Matilda's
self-absorbed, negligent mother and an amateur ballroom dancer who is
obsessed with her amateur Ballroom dancing partner and her looks. She
has an over-the-top personality who resents Matilda and often berates
her. Comedic singer & dancer needed. Vocal range: A3 - F5
MATILDA
WORMWOOD (female presenting. Age 7-12, any race/ethnicity) An
imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a
thirst for learning that cannot be quenched and is a fantastic
storyteller. Matilda must be small, mature, and ready to handle carrying
the entire show. Strong singer. Vocal range: A3 - D5
MISS HONEY
(female presenting, 20-30, any race/ethnicity) Matilda's kindhearted
teacher. She befriends Matilda. She is tired of living in fear under
Miss Trunchbull. A mild, quiet person who never raises her voice and
seldom seems to smile - yet possesses the rare gift of being adored by
every small child under her care. She should have a curious warmth that
is almost tangible. Vocal range: F3- D5
MICHAEL WORMWOOD (male
presenting, teenager, any race/ethnicity) Matilda's older brother. He is
not very bright and favored by their parents. Comedic. Good at deadpan
comedy and has a lot of stage time with few words.
MRS. PHELPS (female presenting, 20+, any race/ethnicity) The kind Librarian who takes a liking to Matilda.
The Addams Family FAMILY:
GOMEZ
ADDAMS (male presenting, 35+, any race/ethnicity) Patriarch of the
Addams Family, Suave, strong comic timing, moves well, loving husband,
extremely passionate, but just a bit traditional.
Strong baritone and a solid Spanish accent.
MORTICIA
ADDAMS (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) Sensual, macabre,
strong comedic timing, mezzo/alto, passionate about her family. Moves
very well.
FESTER ADDAMS (male presenting, 30+, any
race/ethnicity) Narrator of the show, strong comedic timing, eerie,
quirky, earnest, must move well. Baritenor.
GRANDMA (female
presenting, age 102, any race/ethnicity) Quirky, feisty, always with a
trick up her sleeve. Crass, wise and wacky. Great comedic timing and
physicality.
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS (female presenting, 18-22, any
race/ethnicity) Gothic big sister, who has her father’s heart and her
mother’s sensibility, falls in love with a “normal” boy who she brings
to meet the family. Strong will, stubborn, compassionate. Strong belt.
PUGSLEY ADDAMS (male presenting, 12-14, any race/ethnicity) Youngest of the Addams family.
Pugsley loves to be tortured by his big sister. Charming and funny.
LURCH (male presenting, 18+, tall, any race/ethnicity) A character of few words, he is the family
butler. His presence is accented by grunts, moans and deliberate movement. Great physical
storytelling abilities. Bass range.
ALICE BEINEKE (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) Strait-laced, maternal, sexually
repressed and fed up with it. Must move well. Soprano with fierce belt and strong comedic timing.

MAL BEINEKE (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) Uptight father of Lucas and cold husband to
Alice. The Addams are too bizarre for his taste.
LUCAS BEINEKE (male presenting, 18+, any race/ethnicity) Hopeful romantic, in love with
Wednesday and intends to marry her. Optimistic, but struggles to find the balance between his normal
family and the Addams. Strong singer.
Jersey Boys:
FRANKIE
(20-35, any race/ethnicity) has a strong tenor with sweet and strong
falsetto and be able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli; strong tenor
to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G; charismatic and
charming; (comfortable with narrative text) and has a gritty side as
well as a polished veneer; must be very comfortable with traditional
four-part harmonies.
BOB (20-35, any race/ethnicity). Preferably tall; strong tenor/baritenor voice; very comfortable with
traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; an intelligent, sensitive, and introspective musical prodigy.
TOMMY
(20-35, any race/ethnicity). Strong tenor/baritenor voice; very
comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with
narrative text; ability to play guitar a very strong plus; a naturalborn
leader with an appealing, bad-boy quality.
NICK (20-35, any
race/ethnicity). Strong bass/baritone voice; very comfortable with
traditional fourpart harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; a quiet
dreamer who longs for life after The Four Seasons.
GYP DECARLO (45-55, any race/ethnicity). Tough, mafioso type, strong singer.
BOB
CREWE (30-40, any race/ethnicity). Intelligent and flamboyant; genius
music producer and lyricist; an integral part of creating the magic of
The Four Seasons.
JOE PESCI (20s, any race/ethnicity). Must be
5’9” or shorter; young, energetic; a strong singer; will understudy role
of Frankie Valli.
BARRY BELSON (20s, any race/ethnicity). Strong
singer to play various roles (friends, producers, etc); strong tenor to
high C, with a strong falsetto to G above high C; has the ability to
riff in rhythmand-blues style.
THREE WOMEN (female presenting,
20s, any race/ethnicity). Fabulous, versatile actresses and singers with
flexible vocal registers to play a variety of roles (the many
girlfriends of The Four Seasons, etc); should fit well together a la
'60s band Shangrilas and be believable as "tough-as-nails" Jersey girls;
must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; all
three women need to belt and/or have strong mix as one track belts up to
F natural and two tracks also need high soprano.
Misery:
ANNIE
WILKES (Female presenting, 40s-60s – any race/ethnicity). A nurse who
comes to Paul’s rescue (seemingly), Annie seems to be a kind, tender
woman who cares deeply for Paul, even if she does seem slightly off. As
Paul grows to know her it becomes clearer that Annie is manipulative,
cunning, and hides a deep set and terrifying malice behind her cheery
simple façade.
PAUL SHELDON (Male Presenting, Late 30s–Early 60s –
any race/ethnicity) A famed romance novelist tired of the series that
has brought him the most acclaim. Returning from a retreat to finish his
most recent work, he is involved in a terrible car crash that leaves
him with broken legs and unable to care for himself. He’s thoughtful, if
not a touch arrogant, and extremely crafty. He quickly realizes how
dangerous his situation is and must use anything and everything at his
disposal to survive.
BUSTER (Male Presenting, Late 30s–Late 60s,
any race/ethnicity) The Sheriff of a nearby town searching for Paul.
Very friendly with possible hopes of something more with Annie.
