EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT
VIRTUAL OPEN CALL INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you for your interest in submitting a video audition.
Please read everything below carefully!
IMPORTANT INFO:
- Your tape must be submitted no later than Saturday, FEBRUARY 25th at 6pm EST.
- This is an EQUITY 29-Hour Reading. However, Tapes submitted by NON-UNION
members WILL be viewed and considered. You must be able to provide transportation
to and from rehearsal. Housing will NOT be provided.
- Rehearsals run MARCH 19-22, 2023, with a performance date of MARCH 23. If you
are not available for ALL of these dates, please do not submit.
- While we are not able to respond to every submission, we will review all videos and
be in touch via email or phone if we need anything further.

TAPING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Please start the tape by slating your name, height, and where you’re currently based.
- Please sing a provided cut from one of the characters you are submitting for. If you
choose to sing from your book you may, however it is STRONGLY recommended to
learn he material.
- Please send your video on ONE non-expiring link with the option to download (a
Dropbox, Vimeo, or Google Drive link is preferred. Please no WeTransfer). If
using Vimeo, please make sure the settings allow for a download. If using Google
Drive, please make sure the video can be viewed without requesting access. We will
not request access to view your tape.
- Please film your audition in front of a clean background, with no backlighting. As
much as possible, limit ambient noise.

(Mezzo) A devoted and loving wife, Gloria and Bobby have been together for years, and built a wonderful life together. Gloria's biggest priority is making sure that she and Bobby have a safe place to live, as they begin their later years of life. She also doubles as Teresa, the gum chewing "floozy" who works as the DeLuigi's secretary.

    Kathy: Supporting, Female, Trans Female, 25-40 
    (Alto) Female identifying. Cool and edgy, Kathy always seems to get the last word in. Well-spoken and sassy to boot, she is what would appear to be the leader of the inseparable trio of karaoke bar flies.
     
     
     
Ethnicity: Black / African Descent, Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial
(Tenor) Male identifying. While KJ Vinny is everyone's favorite “Karaoke Jokey,” for making their karaoke fantasies come true, Vin has grown tired of hearing the same classics be butchered every Wednesday night. He dreams of karaoke bar of his own, where he can restrict certain songs from being murdered.

    Lisa the Hat: Supporting, Female, 25-40 
    (Soprano) Female identifying. Latino/Hispanic. One of Kathy’s crew, the self-proclaimed "Lisa the Hat" is an Escondido regular, who never goes anywhere without her signature headgear. She is always at the center of what is going on with the other members of her “crazy karaoke family.” Must be able to sing incredibly high rock harmonies.

      Anthony: Supporting, Male, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Male, 25-30
Male identifying/gender fluid. Rounding out Kathy’s trio is Anthony, the resident diva. Always the first to a quip and the life of the party, Anthony is always in the spotlight. Or at least he thinks he is.

    (Tenor) Our stories hero, Jon has been struggling with the loss of his karaoke loving father, while also finding out he will soon be welcoming his own child into the world. While searching for closure, he one day steps into a small town karaoke bar and learns finds out there may have been a reason for his arrival there.

    Note: This role has already been cast.

Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations

Rehearses Mar. 19-22 at Pearl Studios; workshop runs Mar. 23 at Pearl Studios.Compensation & Contract Detail 

Total Pay: $500.00 - $1,000.00 for an estimated 5 days of work (flat rate) 

Additional: Pay rate is dependent on Union status, as well as hours worked within the week. This will be run as a traditional 29 hr. workshop. No participation fees will be required. Travel compensation will not be provided.

This is a 29-hour workshop. Performers will utilize the book throughout the entire process and tell the story with minimal staging.
