We wanted to give you a quick update on some of the AEMI's priorities in the FY23 omnibus legislation released late last night.
The
good news is that the bill funds the NEA and NEH at $207 million each,
This is a big victory for the AEMI, as it is exactly what we asked of
Congress. Our advocacy, including the shared grassroots Action Network petition,
moved the Senate to join the House in funding the NEA and NEH at the
$207 million mark, an important step toward our long term goal of
funding the agencies at $331 million each, or $1 per capita.
The
omnibus also provides modest increases for CPB and the Kennedy Center,
and it increases funding for the NLRB by $25 million. This will be the
first funding increase for the NLRB in 10 years, and it should prevent
furloughs of NLRB staff that were slated to take effect in the coming
weeks.
NEA/NEH: $207 million (+$27)
CPB: $535 million (+$10 million) / $60 million for interconnection system (+$40 million)
Kennedy Center: $45.38 million (+$4.9 million)

NLRB: $310.23 million (+25 million)
The
bad news is that Democrats and Republicans could not reach agreement on
a tax package, meaning there was not a way to pass PATPA with the
omnibus. The work to win tax fairness for entertainment workers will carry forward into the next Congress.
