Seeking offstage understudies for:
One Understudy For:
Michael
in "What Happened Was...": Male, 40s. A cynical and socially awkward
paralegal, Michael presents himself as an intellectual "crusader" who is
secretly writing an exposé on the legal profession. His condescending
and detached demeanor hides a profound sense of professional failure and
a desperate, almost hallucinatory level of self-interest.
Deadwood
in "New Born": Male, L40s-E50s. A pragmatic and insightful tree surgeon
who values professional competence and physical vitality. He struggles
to reconcile his deep capacity for love with need for liveliness -
though morally complicated, he remains courageous in his inability to
live dishonestly.
One Understudy For:
Jackie in "What
Happened Was...": Female, 40. An executive assistant at a New York law
firm, Jackie is a lonely woman who projects a nervous, eager-to-please
energy to mask her deep-seated isolation. Though she appears vulnerable,
she eventually reveals a darker, more complex side through a violent
children’s story she has written.
Light in "New Born": Female,
40, BIPOC. London-based illustrator and mother who harbors a quiet
restlessness, finding her love of her family and her desire for freedom
to be equally intense. Her search for release forces her to navigate
what happens when a fantasy becomes a reality.
