Synopsis: Maggie, a solitary field recordist, discovers a strange frequency buried in a recording - one she becomes convinced is a personal sign. As she manipulates mp3 files and doom-scrolls through conspiratorial message boards, her grief curdles into delusion. What begins as an investigation into a mysterious recording becomes a desperate attempt to connect with her deceased mother. Set against the isolating soundscape of a line audio artist, the story taps into the intersection of meme culture, digital mysticism, and sonic pareidolia - where surveillance and authoritarian dread hums beneath ambient noise. She provides notes on musical work while expressing a deep concern for Maggie’s mental health. Wise and spiritual, Heather believes the Earth’s natural soundscape to be a form of worship, rather than a puzzle begging to be solved. Heather models a relationship to the creative process (and way of life) rooted in patience, ambiguity, and shared human experience rather than absolute certainty or belief in “truth”.
