PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Seeking a deputy head of wigs for "The Lion King," Zurich Tour.
Production states: "Are you interested in working on one of Disney’s most iconic musicals?"
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist
the Head of Wigs, liaising between Company Manager, Technical
departments, Resident Creative Team, Production and General Management
Teams and local venue staff to ensure the smooth running of all
rehearsals and performances;
Assist the Head of Wigs, communicating
in a timely manner with the Company Manager, Production, General
Management and the Resident Creative Team on any day-to-day changes that
might impact the running of the Production;
Assist the Head of Wigs
to teach new members of staff, departments and local dressers and wigs
staff and work closely with theatre staff at the touring venues to
ensure the smooth running of the production and safe handling of wigs;
Perform daily setup and wigs pre-sets;
Ensure an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments;
Ensure all wigs are maintained and cleaned so they are in working order for each performance;
Conduct wig fittings when required to do so;
Learn and execute the tracks backstage for the wigs department;
Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required;
Maintain
and repair wigs as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements
and under the direction of the Head of Wigs, Production Manager and
Resident Creative Team;
Handle any problems that occur during performances quickly and calmly;
Report and feedback show staff-related issues in a timely manner;
Play
a key role in tour moves loading the show in and out of each venue
efficiently, including assisting the Head of Wigs to organise locations
of all wigs, hair and makeup elements;
Work in accordance with the
Health and Safety Policy and maintain a good working knowledge of all
relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices;
Liaise closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is followed;
Work closely and in conjunction with the Company Manager.
Skills:
Clear, confident communication and decision-making are essential;
Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure;
Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with the cast, creative and production team essential;
Transparent and open approach, be able to work well under pressure, enjoy leading from the front, and by example;
Excellent problem-solving skills and use of own initiative;
A full awareness of need for integrity and confidentiality;
Knowledge of wig construction and the cleaning and maintaining of stage wigs;
Understand different materials and components of stage wigs;
Knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation;
Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable.
