PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Seeking Equity Stage managers for the national tour of "Moulin Rouge." Baz Luhrmann’s revolutionary film comes to life onstage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza. Directed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers, "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" is a theatrical celebration of Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and — above all — Love. With a book by Tony Award winner John Logan; music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Tony Award winner Justin Levine; and choreography by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh, "Moulin Rouge!" is more than a musical — it is a state of mind.

 Roles in this project

Equity Stage Manager

Reports to: General Manager. As a critical member of the stage management team, the Production Stage Manager collaborates with all artistic staff, General Management, Company Management, performers, and production personnel in the creation and maintenance of the production as well as managing the Stage Management department.

Role and Responsibilities: Create and maintain a safe work environment in the rehearsal room and in the theater; strong communication skills and ability to remain calm in stressful conditions are required; managing rehearsal rooms and understudy rehearsals; manage the cast backstage and anticipate their needs for a safe performance; adhere and apply all AEA rules and company policies; maintain both presets and running lists for all departments; collaborate with Department heads during the load-ins for the safe and efficient layout of the backstage spaces; call the show and run the backstage SM track as required; create rehearsal reports, show reports, and other reporting documents as required; create Monthly/Weekly Schedules and daily Rehearsal Schedules as well as planning and organizing rehearsal process for incoming cast members; manage the Stage Management department; other Stage Management duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Required Skills: Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required; detail-oriented, willing to complete both complex and menial repetitive tasks with exacting precision and a positive attitude; ability to lead and instruct a team; preferred minimum 4 years of experience as PSM of a touring or Broadway show; knowledge of or experience in several road venues throughout the country.

Tour commences Oct. 17 in Buffalo, NY moving to various cities every couple of weeks.

Compensation & Contract

Additional: Pays $3950/wk. min. Equity Touring Agreement (Level 1) Contract.
