Production Description

Casting "St. Sebastian," a world premiere of a new play that lays bare how perniciously racism hides just beyond the face of “wokeness.”

Gideon: Lead, Male, 20-30
Lead, Male, 20’s - 30’s, White. Gideon is an EDI trainer and takes his work very seriously. He is smart, passionate, energetic, and verbose. When taken out of his comfort zone, he is easily riled, to the point of paranoid.
Ethnicity: White / European Descent

Reuben: Lead, Male, 15-25
Lead, Male, to play 13 - 16, Black. Reuben is a teenager from the neighborhood that Gideon and Ben move into. He is smart, ambitious, curious and charismatic, while occasionally skittish.

Ben: Lead, Male, 40-55
Lead, Male, 40’s - early 50’s, White. Ben, without getting his boyfriend Gideon’s approval, has recently bought a house in a historically Black neighborhood. He is handsome, yet unassuming. While he provides stability in terms of perspective and can definitely keep up with Gideon, he can be somewhat out of touch.

Rehearsal Schedule: 08/15/22 – 9/9/22. Monday – Thursday: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM, Saturday OR Sunday: 10 AM – 5 PM
Tech: 09/10/22 – 09/14/22
Performances: 09/15/22 – 10/02/22

Estimated Payment: $300.00 per Week (Estimated duration: 7 Week)

Additional Instructions:

Actors should email a headshot, resume, and video of a monologue to admin@refractedco.com with the subject line “ST. SEBASTIAN ACTOR SUBMISSION.” Monologues should be no longer than 90 seconds. In the body of the email, actors should include the name of the role for which they would like to be considered, and any conflicts they have during the rehearsal/production schedule.

Auditions will be by appointment and take place the week of May 23rd. Callbacks will take place the first week of June.
