Employment data for the arts, entertainment, and media industry and upcoming

Upcoming Organizing Roundtable - affiliates convening on Thursday, September 15 from 2:30-4:00pm EDT to discuss challenges encountered and strategies used to organize employees in term-limited, seasonal, and freelance jobs.

Organizing/Communications - Provided an organizing training and a social media training for AGVA’s Medieval Times organizing committee. 

Immigration - Dep Prof Emp had one Hill meeting this month to discuss reform of the H-1B visa system with Senate staff.

AEMI - Activities of the arts, entertainment, and media unions this month:

  • Participated in an AFL-CIO meeting with NSC staff to discuss the Indo Pacific Economic Framework and the importance of strong copyright protections for creative professionals. 

  • Participated in a Digital Content Creators meeting with USPTO Director Kathi Vidal to discuss the importance of strong copyright protections for creative professionals.

  • Participated in two Hill meetings with AEA, IATSE, and SAG-AFTRA in support of the Performing Artist Tax Parity Act. 

  • Held one meeting with House staff to discuss federal arts funding.

  • Assisted AGMA with its Senate advocacy for increased NLRB funding.

  • Convened the broadcast unions (IBEW, IATSE, DGA, SAG-AFTRA, and WGAE) on August 12th to discuss ongoing initiatives and collaboration.

  • Updated and distributed the employment data for the arts, entertainment, and media industry. The update is here.
