Performa and Americas Society Announce Casting Call for Performa 2025 Biennial Performance by Regina José Galindo
Dates:
Monday, November 10 2025 (afternoon rehearsal)
Wednesday, November 12 2025 (performance), 6-8 PM
Location: Americas Society, 680 Park Ave, New York, NY 10065
Performers: Seeking 9 performers with strong control and agility in their arms. Performers must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects confidently in a durational performance. Left handed preferred, ages 30-50. Open to all genders and backgrounds. Prior experience in live performance is a plus. Ideal candidates will have a high level of upper body strength and the ability to work collectively.
Required Information: Please email or upload a short video (2 to 4 mins max) demonstrating fine motor control and agility. The video should also include a brief demonstration of strength such as holding, carrying, or moving an object. Please include at least one full body shot in regular clothing. Video/audio files can be sent as attachments or shared via downloadable or streaming links (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). Additional video files and performance reels are welcome. Please include a short bio or resume with your submission. A brief interview/call with the artist will be scheduled to confirm the final group of performers.

Regina José Galindo (b. 1974) is a visual artist and poet, whose main medium is performance. Galindo lives and works in Guatemala, using its own context as a starting point to explore and accuse the ethical implication of social violence and injustices related to gender and racial discrimination, as well as human rights abuses arising from the endemic inequalities in power relations of contemporary societies. Galindo received the Golden Lion for Best Young Artist in the 51st Biennial of Venice (2005) among many other prizes and exhibited solo and collectively all around the world in major museums and international exhibitions.
