Casting ROLE OF JACKIE
AEA SHOWCASE, Female, Early 40's-mid 50's. Caucasian.
Production Title: JUGULAR (working title)
Playwright: Daniel R. O’Brien
Director: Glory Kadigan
Festival: Broadway Bound Theatre Festival
Venue: AMT Theater (NYC)
Performance Dates: July–August 2026
Jackie is sharp, ambitious, and socially fluent. She's a political insider who understands how power moves and how to move within it. She is disarming, quick-witted, and emotionally intelligent, with the ability to pivot from charm to calculation in an instant.
She operates in ambiguity: her sincerity is often unclear, her loyalties shifting, and her motives layered. Over the course of the play, she becomes a crucial force in the balance between truth, power, and survival.
Seeking an actor who:
Has strong command of language and rhythm
Can navigate tonal shifts (satire, realism, psychological tension)
Is comfortable with intimacy and emotional complexity
Can hold their own opposite two dominant, high-status male characters
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
JUGULAR is a darkly satirical political drama examining institutional power, moral compromise, and the cost of truth. The play blends heightened theatricality with grounded psychological stakes.
