Seeking chorus singers and dancers for Riverside Theatre Inc. 2024-25 Season. Season includes "Beautiful - the Carole King Musical" (DJ Salisbury; dir.-choreo.; Michael Kaish, music dir.; rehearsals begin March 15; runs April 15-May 11; minimum LORT B+; private housing, shared local transportation); "Singing in The Rain" (Richard Stafford, dir.-choreo.; Bruce Barnes, music dir.; Kristyn Pope, assoc. choreo.; rehearsals begin Jan. 31; runs Feb. 25-March 31 2025; minimum LORT B+; private housing, shared local transportation).

Procedures are in effect for this audition. An Equity Monitor will be
provided. For dancers, start with tap shoes and have jazz/character
shoes on hand. For singers, prepare 16-32 bars of a song of your choice
in the style of the shows in the season. Bring your headshot and resume
stapled together.

[MARILYN WALD
/ ENSEMBLE] Age: 18 to 20s. Female identifying. Vocal Range: C5. A
singer based on Marilyn Powell, the first girl singer to record a cover
of a Beatles track when only 15.
[THE DRIFTERS] Age ranges: 16-30s.
Vocal Range Bass – Tenor. A black male singing group comprising four
members. The Drifters sang many of Carole’s, Gerry’s, Cynthia’s, and
Barry’s early hits. Members drifted in and out and many of these formed
other groups of Drifters as well. Songs: Some Kind of Wonderful, Up on
the Roof, On Broadway, The Locomotion.
[LEAD DRIFTER / ENSEMBLE] Vocal Range: A4 (Belt) / Eb5 (Falsetto). Male identifying.
[BACK-UP DRIFTER / ENSEMBLE] Vocal Range: Up to C5. Male identifying.
[BACK-UP DRIFTER / ENSEMBLE] Vocal Range: Up to C5. Male identifying.

[THE
SHIRELLES] Age ranges: 16 to 30s. All have belt/mix. A historical
mashup of The Chiffons, The Crystals, and The Cookies. A black female
singing group comprising four members. The Shirelles sang many of
Carole’s and Gerry’s early hits. The Shirelles formed in Passaic, New
Jersey in 1957. They consisted of schoolmates Shirley Owens, Doris
Coley, Addie “Micki” Harris, and Beverly Lee. Including: [LUCILLE (DON
KIRSCHNER’S SECRETARY) / SHIRELLE / ENSEMBLE] Age: 16 to 30s. Vocal
Range: Alto.
[JANELLE WOODS / SHIRELLE / ENSEMBLE] She and Gerry
begin having an affair. Janelle is based on Earl-Jean Reavis (McCrea) of
The Cookies who had a child with Gerry while married to Carole. Age: 18
to 20s. Vocal Range: D5.
[LITTLE EVA / SHIRELLE / ENSEMBLE] A
babysitter for Carole & Gerry performs one of Carole’s and Gerry’s
hits. Age: 18 to 20s. Vocal Range: E5
[UPTOWN GIRL/ SHIRELLE / ENSEMBLE] Age: 18 to 20s. Vocal Range: D5
MALE

GIRL IN GREEN: (mid 20s-early 30s) Star
Dancer. Tall, alluring, superb jazz and ballet dancer, as well as
tapper. She is featured in the ballet and the tango. Originally played
in the film by Cyd Charisse.
FEMALE DANCE ENSEMBLE: (early 20s-early
30s) Major tap skills. Must be equally strong in ballet and theatre jazz
with an impeccable sense of style and ease. Must sing extremely well.
