Additional Materials: Breakdown
Debbie, late 50’s or 60’s, White, a retired small business owner; caring and maternal, yet no nonsense, stalwart and dependable, conservative but open to change, knows her husband’s limits and has the good sense not to test them.
Frank, late 50’s or 60’s, Latinx, Debbie’s husband, also a retired small business owner; hard working, masculine, old school; likes to have a good time, life of the party, loves his son deeply but can’t quite communicate with him.
Sister Pat, 50’s or 60’s, White, Debbie’s sister, a nun with a fight in her; idealistic but still on this earth, a shit stirrer, used to be awkward and is maddeningly self-assured now, impish.
Jamie, mid 30’s, bi-racial: Debbie and Frank’s son, a human rights worker; charming; an idealistic high achiever, always striving, used to pleasing those around him, sexy, can pass for straight.
Ted, mid 30’s, White, Jamie’s boyfriend, a magazine editor; a homebody who is looking for creature comforts, loves Rachel Maddow and Jamie; anxious, effeminate, and attractive in a way that makes you wonder why Jamie would leave him.
Gillian, 20’s or 30’s, Asian, also bi-racial, Jamie’s best friend, a magazine executive; hard driving, quick witted, successful and status conscious. Has no problem picking a fight.
