We've got the playwrights and directors, but now, we need actors! We've included the full casting call below - get your auditions in by November 3rd for consideration.
TWISTED TALES 2026 CASTING CALL
Rainy Day Artistic Collective (RDAC), is seeking actors for this year’s iteration of our annual year-end show, “Twisted Tales,” a fully virtual one act festival of short plays that highlight new “takes” and “twists” on familiar stories. Whether you’re an on-camera veteran or doing it for the first time, we encourage you to audition!
This year’s festival features five 10(ish) minute plays, all of which currently have open roles, for which we’re actively casting.
Unfortunately at this time we are not able to provide stipends for actors; we completely understand if this is a deal breaker. As we grow, increasing funding for stipends is our #1 financial priority. This event will be free for all audiences.
Performances will be Livestream
December 4th and 5th.
For the rehearsal schedule, please refer to the included form (linked below), but our first rehearsal will be on November 12th. There is no in-person activity - join from home or another place of your choosing!
If you would like to audition, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/LxJerXd7SyD5ARfX7
A resume and headshot, though not 100% required to audition, will be extremely helpful tools for us especially if we’ve not worked with you in the past.
What we definitely need: a self tape of a 1-2 minute monologue. Contemporary is best, but whatever you have ready will work - we mostly want to see a sample of you performing! (If you happen to have an acting reel, that will also work great.)
A casting breakdown of all available roles is also included in the form.
If you wish to audition but experience any obstacles, please reach out and let us know and we are happy to do our best to help accommodate. RDAC is committed to doing all we reasonably can to remove any barriers to audition accessibility.
RDAC is committed to diverse and inclusive casting and welcomes actors from any and all backgrounds and experience levels to audition for all of our projects.
Our current deadline for auditions is November 3rd, 2026 at 11:59pm PST. We expect to make casting decisions and communicate any role offers within a couple days of this deadline.
Thank you, and please email
if you have any questions.
Last but not least - if you want to tune in to this year's Twisted Tales showcase, you can RSVP here: https://events.humanitix.com/twisted-tales-2026-virtual-one-act-festival. It is free for everyone to tune in, but you will need to RSVP to get the link. The RSVP system also helps us track attendance and lets us know which events people want to see more of in the future!
RAINY DAY READ THROUGHS - THE LATEST UPDATES!
Rainy Day ReadThroughs has had a successful first year back - thank you to all who participated! We've gathered to read a variety of plays this year, including (but not limited to) "The Seagull," "Tartuffe," "The Tempest," "The Crucible," and three different casts of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" We're thrilled by the positive response to the return of the program that started it all (a little history - Rainy Day ReadThroughs were the program that founded this whole company!) and excited to inform you that we will definitely be coming back for more in 2027.
For our October ReadThrough session, we tried something a little different than usual - instead of reading one "full length play," we read four Halloween-themed one act pieces to celebrate the season! Thanks to everyone who participated, and a special shout out to playwrights Dana Hall, Cole Hunter Dzubak, and John Mabey who agreed to lend their fabulous plays to the session! We even had a couple playwrights in attendance, which was a treat. We'll consider incorporating more one act reading sessions in future months - stay tuned!
We're taking December off from the ReadThrough program to relax and celebrate the winter holidays, but we've still got one more ReadThrough left in 2026! Our Artistic Director, Jack Seamus, will be hosting a ReadThrough of The Yellow Boat by David Saar. Sign up to read here:
https://forms.gle/2HMTBfrV5kLS7Ziw7.
The date of the reading will be chosen based on respondents' best availability.
In order to keep these readings happening on a monthly basis, we're also looking for volunteer hosts for 2027. If you're interested, or just curious about what that entails, please reach out. Note: if you haven't taken part in a ReadThrough yet, that's totally okay, although we request you attend at least one ReadThrough as part of your "training" before taking on any hosting duties of your own.
If you have play recommendations for future ReadThroughs, there's usually a place on our sign up forms to suggest them, or you can email us with your suggestions and we'll add them to our ever-evolving list of options. We're most likely to choose plays that are free to read somewhere online, as this makes scripts far more accessible to our readers. Cast sizes of the plays that we do vary, but given our current level of participation, a play with an extra-large (requiring over 12 to 13 actors) or extra-small (4 or fewer actors) is a less likely fit for the series, although we have done them before and might do so again if they're a great fit!

As always, we'd love to hear from you! Let us know what you're interested in. Are you interested in other social events? Coffee hours? Workshops or writing groups? Partnerships with like-minded organizations? Are you interested in volunteering to help with any of these things? Let us know - we'd love to keep expanding our offerings, but we can't do it without your support!
Thank you for being a part of this community. We'll be in touch again soon!
Warmly,
The Rainy Day Leadership Team
