Village, My Home is a new play that will be performed at this Summer’s Dream Up Festival at Theater for the New City.
In preparation for the New Year, a Village housewife, a team of business people, and inquisitive tourists struggle to find the meaning of home within the context of a bustling New York City. Searching deeply, they question what matters and find surprising connections where they least expect them.
Old Woman, 60s – 70s, matriarch, delivers long speeches
Middle Aged Man, mid 40s – 50s, frustrated, fails to report to HR
Best Friend, female mid 30s, enabling, always near the Middle Aged Woman
Computer Geek, male 24-32, boldly visionary, almost terrorist
26 Year Old, female, empathetic, an editor on the verge of firing her interns
Out of Towner, male or female, charismatic 25-40, inquisitive, daunted
Guide, female, 25-35, charismatic, enthusiastic
Traveler from Another Boro, male, mid 20s – 40s, intrepid, proud
Native Dweller, female, mid 20s – 40s, aware and attentive
Welcoming all ethnicities for all roles. Actors must be able to memorize quickly. Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays and Thursday evenings in August. Non AEA and AEA welcome.
