The 4th annual GIAA Festival of Short Films and Videos - see www.giaafilmfest.com -is now open for submissions! Submissions are welcome through Without A Box - www.withoutabox.com - or by using the application on the web site.

The fest will take place Friday Oct 1 through Oct 3; movies with a running time of up to 30 minutes are welcome in 4 categories: fiction, animation, documentaries, and music videos. Awards will be presented for the best movie in each category, and Delicious Italian Gifts - www.deliciousitaliangifts.com - is providing great baskets of Italian goodies for the winner of the Audience Choice Award at each screening.

There is also a screenplay competition for both short and full-length screenplays; Final Draft - www.finaldraft.com - is a sponsor again and the best short and the best full-length screenplay will each win a download of Final Draft 8.

We will once again present the Italian American Heritage Award to the movie or screenplay that best exemplifies the Italian American immigrant experience.

Finally, we're pleased to announce our first-ever cash award: the best movie AND the best screenplay (either short or full-length) will receive a $100 cash prize.

With:
Anthony Allesandro* Steven Hauck*Kate MacCluggage*
Athena Masci Kate Kearney-Patch*

Set in backwater Middletown, USA - STUCK tells the tale of two twenty-three-year-olds, Lula and Margaritah, best friends since they were five years old. They work at a dead-end job at a local video store during the day and hang out in the car at night, wishing they could get out of Middletown. Stifled by their environment, the joy and excitement that the girls once found in their friendship has sadly waned. Margaritah falls in love with an Argentine wheeler-dealer whose politics are as mysterious as his business agenda. Lula hits the bars and ends up with the man of no one's dreams. Both affairs end in despair, and each girl grows increasingly determined to escape the drudgery of their lives. But the price will be higher than either imagine. Try as they might, they may just be STUCK - for good.
