STORY LINE: BRIAN and GRETCHEN are best buds, both trying to navigate those difficult final days of senior year, clearly unprepared for impending adulthood, but ultimately happy for each other's friendship. While Brian is clearly smitten by Gretchen, and interested in pursuing a relationship, Gretchen is seemingly oblivious to his romantic overtures, blithely assuming that the two are nothing more than pals...

[BRIAN OSWALD] 17- 18, a high school senior, Brian is a well-meaning misfit, intelligent and observant, but clearly uncomfortable navigating approaching adulthood. Still a virgin, with a romantic streak, he's smitten by his longtime best friend, Gretchen, a tough-talking punker who's dealing with her own self-esteem issues. A stand-up kind of guy, loyal, but unsure of himself, he'd like life to be simpler, determined to go to the prom, if only to have some postcard memory of high school. In the meantime, he's got a hankering to cut the apron strings and seek adventure -- but not without his best bud, Gretchen by his side...LEAD

[GRETCHEN] 17-18, overweight but delicately pretty, Gretchen is Brian's good friend, a tough-talking punk-rock wanna-be who dresses the part and dyes her hair a new color almost every month. Seemingly unsentimental, with a self-deprecating sense of humor and a lot of self-loathing, she is defensive and in-your-face, not about to reveal any vulnerability. However, it's clear she's got a soft spot for Brian...LEAD (NOTE: Please submit actresses who fit the physical description OR are willing to expand their size for the role).

We in the arts need this and the country needs the arts--now more than ever. Please take a moment to sign this important petition and then pass it on to your friends and colleagues.
